The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed its condolences for the victims of the terrorist bombing that targeted a mosque in the Afghan province of Kandahar this afternoon, which resulted in dozens of casualties and injuries.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Foul, expressed the Kingdom's strong condemnation and denunciation of all forms of terrorism, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

At least seven people were killed and 13 wounded, in an explosion that occurred during Friday prayers at a mosque in the Afghan city of Kandahar, according to a doctor told AFP.

"The hospital received seven dead and 13 wounded," the source at the central hospital in the southern city said.

Last week, Daesh claimed a bloody suicide attack on a mosque in the Afghan city of Kunduz.

The terrorist organization said, in a statement posted on its channels via Telegram, that a Daesh suicide bomber "detonated his explosive jacket among the crowds inside the temple, which led to the death and wounding of more than 300."

A Taliban official told AFP that at least 55 people were killed in the suicide attack in Kunduz, in northeastern Afghanistan, in the deadliest attack since US forces left the country.

The attack in the city of Kunduz came five days after the bombing of a mosque in Kabul that killed at least five people, for which Daesh also claimed responsibility.
