The Chinese National Health Commission said Friday, that 10 new infections with the Corona virus were recorded in China during the past 24 hours.

In a statement, the committee said that all infections came from outside the country. No deaths were recorded.

The virus has caused the death of at least 4,870,405 people in the world, since the World Health Organization office in China reported the emergence of the disease at the end of December 2019, according to a census conducted by Agence France-Presse, based on official sources, Thursday at 10:00 GMT.

The numbers are based on daily reports issued by each country's health authorities and exclude subsequent reviews by statistical agencies that indicate much higher death numbers.

The World Health Organization, taking into account the excess mortality rate directly or indirectly related to Covid-19, considers that the outcome of the epidemic may be two or three times greater than the officially announced outcome.

A large proportion of less serious cases or asymptomatic cases remain undetected despite the intensification of examinations in a large number of countries.

Thursday, 8,666 additional deaths and 459,785 new infections were recorded in the world.

Based on recent reports, the countries that recorded the highest number of deaths in their daily tolls are the United States with 3,108 deaths, followed by Russia (986) and Mexico (420).

Among the worst-affected countries, Peru has the highest death rate per population of 606 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Bosnia (337), North Macedonia (330), Montenegro (319), Bulgaria (315) and Hungary (314).

As of 10:00 GMT Thursday, Latin America and the Caribbean recorded 1,504,809 deaths (45,408,588 cases), while Europe recorded 1,344,331 deaths out of 70,174,960 cases. Asia recorded 853,562 deaths (54,885,645 cases).

This outcome was prepared on the basis of data collected by AFP offices from the relevant national authorities and information published by the World Health Organization.
