Wednesday, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received Qatari Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, in a visit, which is the first for a Qatari official since the outbreak of the Gulf crisis.

During the meeting, which took place at the Beach Palace in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to serve the interests of both countries.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser to the UAE, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Earlier this year, Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud began an official visit to Qatar from Iraq.

The official Qatar News Agency (QNA) stated in a brief statement that the Qatari Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, was received by bin Saud and his accompanying delegation upon their arrival at Doha International Airport.

The agency did not give further details about the duration and agenda of the Saudi minister's visit to Qatar.

Prior to his arrival in Doha, the Saudi Interior Minister discussed with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kathemi, during a visit to Baghdad, on Saturday, security cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism, according to a statement issued by the latter's office.

This comes after a severe political crisis erupted in mid-2017, during which Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severed their relations with Qatar, claiming its support for extremist groups, which Doha denied.

Jan. 5, the 41st Gulf Summit in Saudi Arabia announced the signing of a reconciliation agreement that ended the most difficult crisis since the establishment of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in 1981.

Subsequently, commercial flights were resumed and land crossings between Saudi Arabia and Qatar were opened, as well as the exchange of visits, ambassadors and contacts between officials of the two countries.
