Transport Minister announces resumption of flights to Syria starting next week

Tuesday, the Minister of Transport Wajih Azaizeh said that the Royal Jordanian Company announced the resumption of flights to Syria starting Sunday, Oct. 3.

In a press statement, Azaizeh stressed that the return of air traffic requires compliance with all health conditions.

He added that the traveler must bring a negative PCR test result from Syrian laboratories performed within 72 hours before travel, in addition to conducting a PCR test upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and not leaving the airport until the result comes out negative.

The Jordanian-Syrian ministerial meetings, which were held over the past two days, were concluded in Amman earlier Tuesday.

The meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in many economic fields in a way that achieves the interests of both parties.

The Jordanian committee included the Ministers of Industry, Trade and Supply, Maha Ali, Water and Irrigation, Muhammad Al-Najjar, Transportation Wajih Azaizeh, Agriculture, Khaled Al-Hunaifat, Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, and their counterparts from the Syrian side, the Ministers of Economy and Foreign Trade, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, Water Resources, Tammam Raad, Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Muhammad Hassan Qatna, and Electricity, Ghassan Al-Zamil.

During the meetings, the two sides reached common visions and understandings in order to enhance economic cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, agriculture, water and transport, in a manner that benefits both countries.

The ministers from both sides stressed the importance of developing a vision to increase the level of economic cooperation between the two countries, address any difficulties facing the movement of trade exchange and transport, and push for strengthening partnership in the fields of energy, water and agriculture to serve the interests of both countries.

The two sides discussed, during extensive meetings held at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, which included all ministers from both sides, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, transport, electricity, agriculture and water resources.
