Thursday, Member of the US House of Representatives, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), was seen crying after the House of Representatives approved $1 billion in new funding for Israeli Occupation’s Iron Dome missile defense system.

The vote was 420 to 9 to help the Israeli Occupation replace missile interceptors used during heavy fighting in a devastating war with the Palestinians in May.

Those who voted in favour of the funding said they were “appalled” by the progressives’ attempt to defund “defense system to protect Israeli civilians.”

As opponents of the funding called the Occupation an “aparthied state,” supporters viciously attacked them and threw accusations of antisemitism their way.

Those who voted 'no' include: Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, Cori Bush, Maroy Newman, Raúl Grijalva, Sylvia Garcia, and Republican Thomas Massie.

After Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez initially voted with rejection, she received heavy criticism from supporters of the measure for refusing to back it, which made AOC switch her vote to “present” instead of “no” and cry.

The vote followed a controversial debate in the House of Representatives in which Tlaib said she cannot only talk about [the Israeli Occupiers’] need for safety at a time when Palestinians live under a violent apartheid regime.

The debate showed massive division within the Democratic party with some demanding an end to American conditions-free aid to Israeli Occupation and others in the party who argued that the United States must not hesitate in supporting the Israeli Occupation’s right to defend itself.
