A number of artists in the Gaza Strip participated in drawing a mural embodying the escape of Gilboa prisoners. The painting included a drawing of the ‘spoon of freedom,’ in reference to the tool used by the prisoners to dig the tunnel.

The artist, Mohammed Abu Layla, said that the process of digging the tunnel and extracting the prisoners’ freedom constituted a shock to the Israel Occupation, and increased the importance of the prisoners’ issue for the Palestinian people and the whole world, as the prisoners tried to regain their freedom with the simplest tools they had.

Abu Layla said “This mural is a symbol of gratitude to Gilboa prisoners who snatched their freedom from the jailers by digging a tunnel with their spoons. After a long time in prison they were able to breathe freedom. The mural represents support and compassion to the six prisoners who carried out this escape operation.”

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) announced Sunday at dawn the arrest of the last two Palestinian escapees who managed to escape from Gilboa prison- Ayham Kamamji and Monadel Nafe’at. This came after the IOF stormed the city of Jenin.

The IOF said in a statement, "After about two weeks of chasing, border guard troops worked tonight with the special forces of the General Security Service and the Israeli [Occupation] army in Jenin to arrest the two prisoners, Ayham Kamamji and Monadel Nafe’at."

"The Public Security Agency and the Public Security Service arrived at the house where the wanted men were staying.”

Then, they were arrested and taken for interrogation, according to the official statement.

Sept. 6, six Palestinians escaped Israeli Occupation Gilboa prison in the north of the country.

Gilboa prison is considered one of Israeli Occupation’s most secure facilities, due to the heavy fortification and the security procedures followed inside it.

Sept. 11, Hebrew media announced the recapture of Zakaria Zubeidi and Muhammad Ardah near Jabal Al-Tur, north of occupied Palestine.

This came hours after the Israeli Occupation arrested Yaqoub Qadri and Mahmoud Arda.
