The member states of the European Union decided to coordinate to maintain a European presence in Kabul despite the Taliban's control of the country, as "security conditions allowed for this," the bloc's foreign minister, Josep Borrell said.
"We have decided to work in a coordinated manner to unify our contacts with the Taliban, including maintaining a presence in Kabul (...) as security conditions permit," Borrell told the press after a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Slovenia, adding that the goal was to allow the evacuation of those wishing to continue to leave Afghanistan.
