Monday, Jordanian weightlifter Jamil El Shebli won the gold medal in the 107-kg weightlifting competitions at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

This came after he managed to lift 236, 241 and 246kgs, amid intense competition with an Iranian champion.

The medal is Jordan's fourth in the 2020 Paralympic Games.

Sunday, Jordanian weightlifter Abdul Karim Khattab won the gold medal in the 88-kg weightlifting competitions at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, in the under-88-kg category.

Khattab managed to lift 225 kg in the first attempt, 226 in the second attempt, and 231 in the third attempt, breaking the Olympic record.

The Paralympic Games hosted in the Japanese capital of Tokyo opened with the participation of about 4,500 male and female athletes representing 163 countries and refugee teams competing in 23 sports. The Games will continue until September 5th.

The Jordanian team includes: Faten Alimat (table tennis WS4), Khitam Abu Awad (table tennis WS5), Omar Qaradah (weightlifting 49 kg), Muhammad Tarbash (weightlifting 65 kg) and Moataz Al Junaidi (weightlifting 97 kg), Abdul Karim Khattab (weightlifting 88 kg), Asmaa Issa (weightlifting 79 kg), Jamil El Shebli (weightlifting 107 kg), Tharwat Al-Hajjaj (weightlifting 86 kg) and Ahmed Al Hindi (shot put F34).

The Jordanian delegation's participation will conclude on Sept. 4, with Al-Hindi.
