Gantz meets Abbas in Ramallah

Fatah central committee member and head of civil affairs Hussein Sheikh, said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with the Israeli Occupation Defense Minister Benny Gantz in Ramallah.

Sheikh wrote on Twitter that the meeting discussed Palestinian-Israeli relations in all aspects.

"This evening I met with PA [President] Mahmoud Abbas to discuss security-policy, civilian and economic issues," Gantz announced on Twitter.

The Hebrew TV announced that Gantz met with Abbas in Ramallah Sunday evening, and discussed with him the financial support of the Authority and its economic strengthening.

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth described the meeting between Abbas and Gantz as ‘exceptional.’

During the meeting, Gantz told Abbas the "Israeli [Occupation] is seeking to take measures that will strengthen the economy of the Palestinian Authority."

They also discussed the formation of the security and economic situation in the West Bank and Gaza, and agreed to continue to communicate more on different issues.

"We also discussed shaping the security and economic situations in the West Bank and in Gaza," Gantz said.
The meeting was also attended by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Major General Ghasan Alyan as well as Palestinian Minister Hussein al-Sheikh, and Head of the Palestinian Intelligence Service, Majid Faraj. Gantz and Abbas also met alone.
