Sunday, a member of the National Committee for Epidemics Bassam Hijjawi told Roya that the current COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom is stable which allows the government to reopen various sectors, including schools and universities.

However, he stressed the need to adhere to the required health and safety measures especially in light of the spread of the Delta variant.

Regarding the coronavirus vaccination campaign, Hijjawi called on everyone to receive the vaccine.

He noted that around 200,000 people registered to receive the coronavirus vaccine missed their appointments.

As for the third dose of the vaccine, he pointed out that it will be offered for those with weak immune systems.

Saturday, Hijjawi said that the Ministry of Health will administer the third dose of the vaccine to certain groups of people, including cancer patients, kidney transplants, bone marrow transplants, those infected with AIDS, and any other diseases that weaken the immunity system.

Sep. 1, the third phase of the government’s reopening plan will enter into force. The third phase aims to return to normal life. Curfew hours will be canceled, students in schools and universities will return to in-person education, and the majority of sectors and activities will be allowed to operate at full capacity.

Festivals, conferences, exhibitions and theaters will return to operating, but at a limited rate of capacity and within the required health conditions.

Jordan recorded eight deaths and 958 new coronavirus cases Sunday.
