Police in Pakistan launched an investigation after a young woman was assaulted by over 400 men in a park in Pakistan, according to local media Tuesday.

People on social media circulated videos showing hundreds of men attacking a woman who was filming a TikTok video with her friends in the Greater Iqbal Park on Aug. 14.

The woman was celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day with her friends at the park when the attack happened.

According to the victim, the men groped her, tore off her clothes, beat her, flung her around the crowd and then robbed her.

"I was stripped and my clothes were torn apart," she said, according to The Express Tribune newspaper.

She added that her gold jewelry, mobile phone and cash were "forcibly taken" by people in the crowd.

People took to social media to express their frustration following the attack. A social media user wrote on Twitter “Shocking beyond imagination! 400 men groping, beating and tearing cloth of a TikToker in Minar-e-Pakistan.”

Another social media user said “A woman was harassed, physically assaulted, and stripped naked by 400 men at Minar-e-Pakistan and Pakistani men still have the audacity to tweet ‘not all men.’ This country is a living nightmare for young girls and women.”

A number of people stood by as the group of men attacked the victim, with many of them filming on their mobile phones instead of helping her, according to local media.

The police filed cases against the 400 men who were involved in the incident.
