Wednesday, Bangladesh Ambassador to Jordan Nahida Sobhan met with Jordan's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Mr. Nayef Al Fayez. They discussed, in detail, the participation of Bangladeshis in the tourism industry of Jordan. The Ambassador said that Bangladesh, as an economically emerging country in South Asia, is interested in enhancing cooperation with Jordan. In order to attract Bangladeshi tourists to visit Jordan, many initiatives can be taken which will also help in economic development of Jordan. The Ambassador requested to ease visa procedures for the Bangladeshi tourists. She added that travel-loving citizens of Bangladesh travel to different countries in Asia and the Middle East as well as Europe, America and Africa. If travel procedures are eased for the Bangladeshi travelers, many tourists from Bangladesh would be able to visit Jordan every year to visit the historical and religious places of Jordan. This will benefit Jordan's tourism sector and it will also help Jordan to portray its image in south Asia more attractively.

Hon'ble Minister Nayef Al Fayez said that the tourism industry plays an important role in Jordan's economy. Therefore, the government is particularly interested in the expansion of this industry. The Jordanian government invites citizens of any country in the world, including Bangladesh, to visit Jordan. He expressed interest in working together to ease the travel procedures for the tourists from Bangladesh. He stressed on the inclusion of renowned and reliable private sectors who are working in tourism sectors. He further added that a tour for print and electronic media workers and private travel management companies from Bangladesh can be considered for the purpose of broadcasting Jordanian tourism content in Bangladeshi media.

The Ambassador and the Hon'ble Minister agreed to review the possibility of signing of an agreement or MoU aimed at working together to expand the tourism industry in Bangladesh and Jordan.
