Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said Monday that Washington's "abrupt" decision to withdraw its forces is what caused the deterioration of the security situation in his country.

"The reason for the situation we are in right now is that the decision was taken abruptly," Ghani said, addressing parliament, adding that he had warned the Americans that the withdrawal would have "consequences."
