Saturday, the Iraqi police in Salahaddin province announced that at least 13 people were killed, including three policemen and 18 others were injured in an armed attack on a funeral procession in Yathrib district.

The Iraqi News Agency (INA), said gunmen opened fire at the funeral in Yathrib before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred Friday. Security forces declared a state of alert following the incident and are currently searching for those who carried out the attack.

Investigations into the incident have been launched.
