Friday, Israeli Occupation President Isaac Herzog received a third dose of the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine against the coronavirus, launching a booster vaccination campaign in the Israeli Occupation for people over the age of sixty.

"We are starting the booster vaccination campaign," said Herzog, who received the third dose of the vaccine at Sheba Medical Center in the Tel Aviv suburb.

The Hebrew state had allowed in mid-July to give a third dose of vaccines to people who suffer from a severe decrease in immunity, which makes them unable to effectively fight the virus.

But with the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced a campaign to provide a third dose of a booster to those aged 60 and over.

"Israel is pioneering by moving forward with giving a third dose to those aged 60 and over," Bennett, 49, said Friday when accompanying Herzog to the hospital to get the vaccine.

He added, "The only way to defeat Covid is to work together. Working together means sharing data, fluids, advice and practical practices. The State of Israel is open to sharing all the information it obtains as a result of this bold measure."

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), whose recommendations the Israeli Occupation usually follows, has not yet given the green light to give a third dose to the elderly.
