Jordanian artist Rafik Al-Lahham passes away

Friday, the Jordanian artist, Rafiq Al-Lahham, passed away at the age of 90.

Al-Lahham, born in Damascus 1931, was an architectural painter in his early days. He is one of the founders of the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association in the early fifties of the last century, which he headed in 1979, as well as one of the founders of the Union of Arab Plastic Artists in 1971.

He has participated in most of the Jordanian group exhibitions since 1951, and his paintings are in museums, institutions, and many art collectors.

He was the first to present an experiment in the field of graphics in Jordan, in 1996 at the American Cultural Center in Jabal Amman, he received the Planet Medal of the second degree from His Majesty King Hussein in 1988, he received the State Appreciation Award for Plastic Arts in 1991. And the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association Award in year 1993.

He participated in many Jordanian, Arab and international exhibitions, designed dozens of commemorative medals and hundreds of institutions' logos and stamps, and has dozens of paintings in many Arab and European museums.
