The Palestinian Prisoners Club said Wednesday that 16 Palestinian detainees in the Israeli Occupation prisons are continuing their hunger strike, 15 of whom are protesting their administrative detention.

The club added in a statement, "The administrative prisoners continue to confront the policy of administrative detention through a hunger strike, and it is likely that the number of hunger strikers will increase within days."

The club explained that the increase in the number of detainees on hunger strike comes as the Israeli Occupation authorities continue to escalate the policy of administrative detention, as the number of administrative prisoners in the Israeli Occupation prisons reached around 540.

The club said that the prisoner who has been on the longest hunger strike is Salem Zaidat, 40, from Hebron, who continues his strike for the 17th day in a row, rejecting his administrative detention.
