After growing threats from Russia and China, US President Joe Biden warned that a major cyber attack on the United States could lead to a "real war" with a major power.

Cyber security topped the agenda of the Biden administration after a series of high-profile attacks on entities including network management company Solarwinds, Colonial Pipeline Company, and JBS meat processing company, which caused great damage to the United States. Some of the attacks affected the supply of fuel and food in parts of the United States.

Biden said in a half-hour speech on Tuesday that he believed that if there was a "real war with major powers" it would most likely be "the result of a hack with catastrophic consequences...".
