King, Harris discuss ways to strengthen strategic partnership

Tuesday, His Majesty King Abdullah II and US Vice President Kamala Harris discussed ways to enhance the strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

The meeting which was held in Washington dealt with US support for the Kingdom, development projects and other fields related to the environmental sector and addressing climate change and its impact on natural resources.

The developments in the region were also reviewed, where His Majesty stressed the importance of concerted efforts to prevent a new escalation in the Palestinian territories, and work with the international community to relaunch the peace process between Palestinians and Israeli Occupation residents.

His Majesty reiterated the importance of preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem, especially in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Regarding the burdens Jordan faces as a result of hosting more than 1.3 million Syrian refugees, His Majesty stressed the importance of the international community shouldering its responsibilities in this regard.

His Majesty pointed out that Jordan was at the forefront of countries that provided vaccines against the coronavirus to refugees.

His Majesty expressed his thanks to the US administration for providing the necessary assistance and vaccinations to confront the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Director of His Majesty's Office, and the Kingdom's Ambassador to Washington.
