Saturday, hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated at al-Manara Roundabout in Ramallah to condemn the assassination of the Palestinian activist Nizar Banat.

Demonstrators called for the resignation of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the formation of new leadership.

Palestinian media reported that the Palestinianian security forces prevented the entry of Jerusalemites and 1948 Palestinians into Ramallah, to keep them from participating in these demonstrations.

Protestors chanted saying those responsible for the assassination of Banat should be taken to court and executed.

Masked gunmen set up a checkpoint at one of the entrances to Ramallah and security officers headed to al-Ersal Street before the start of demonstrations.
