Many were disappointed to learn the SOULCaps, an inclusive swimwear cap brand, has been banned for athletes at the Olympics.

The caps are designed to be larger, so they can accommodate diverse hair types in the water.

However, the federation for international competitions in water sports (FINA), said the caps are unsuitable because they do not "follow the natural form of the head."

FINA added that, to their best knowledge, "the athletes competing at international events never used, neither require to use caps of such size and configuration."

SOULCaps co-founders, Toks Ahmed and Michael Chapman said they are disappointed in the "failure to acknowledge the diversity of competitive swimmers."
