Tuesday, the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 300,000 narcotic pills and arrested the two people who tried to transport them through the desert.

According a statement by the AND, someone reported that two individuals were intending to transport a large quantity of drugs off-road in the desert.

An investigation was immediately launched and the team verified the information. AND personnel spotted the suspected vehicle and arrested both individuals after a chase.

The narcotic pills were seized along with a firearm and the case was referred to the State Security Court prosecutor.
