A passenger was taken to the hospital Friday, after jumping out of a moving United Express plane at Los Angeles International Airport, according to the authorities.

According to the airport, United Express Flight 5365, operated by Skywest, was pulling away shortly after 7pm when the man unsuccessfully attempted to breach the cockpit, then managed to open the service door and jump onto the emergency slide on the tarmac.

The authorities explained that the passenger was arrested and detained on the taxiway, then was given initial treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital, according to the Associated Press.

The aircraft was an Embraer 175 twin-engine, which was bound for Salt Lake City. After the incident, it returned to its gate and remained on the ground for several hours.

Authorities said no one else on the plane was hurt except for the man, while the FBI has launched an investigation and is working to determine the passenger's motive.

It is noteworthy that this incident was the second disturbance at Los Angeles International Airport during the past two days.

Thursday, a driver broke through a chain fence at a FedEx freight facility and drove to the airport and across runways while police chased the car.

Police said the driver was arrested and no injuries were reported, but two runways were briefly closed.
