Wednesday, international star Britney Spears appeared in a court hearing about her conservatorship led by her father that has controlled her life for well over a decade.

Spears broke her silence in court, sharing that she wants to get married and have another baby, however, she alleged that she is not permitted to remove her birth control under the lawful conservatorship.

She said she was traumatized and cried on a daily basis, telling a judge "I just want my life back".

The internationally-known superstar also said she was put on a psychiatric drug - lithium - against her will.

Back in 2008, her father was granted control over her affairs by court order after she was placed in a hospital amid concerns over her mental health.

The order has been extended for more than 13 years since.

"I was told, right now in the conservatorship, I'm not able to get married or have a baby," said Britney in court.

She discussed her lithium prescription further, "You can go mentally impaired if you stay on it longer than five months... I felt drunk, I couldn't even have a conversation with my momor dad about anything."

The hearing was the first time Spears spoke in open court about her case.

It followed much speculation about the Spears' situation, with fans eagerly searching for clues. A fan-led movement, known as #FreeBritney, has campaigned for her legal freedom for years.

Once more, the hashtag has gone viral online.

According to the Associated Press however, a long legal process is highly likely before any decision is made on ending the conservatorship.
