The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the opening of the Honduran embassy in occupied Jerusalem Thursday.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Dhaifallah Ali Al-Fayez, stressed that the opening of the embassy in Jerusalem is a rejected and condemned step, and it is a grave breach of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

Earlier Thursday, Honduras moved its embassy to Jerusalem, after decades of work in Tel Aviv, in an attempt to build closer relations with the Israeli Occupation, becoming the fourth country to move its embassy to the disputed city.

Fayez said any measures aimed at changing the status of the city of Jerusalem or its legal status are null and illegal.

He indicated that achieving a just and comprehensive peace is the only way to achieve a two-state solution that embodies an independent and sovereign Palestinian state as per June 4, 1967 lines, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital, based on international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
