Monday, the Ministry of Health announced that 67 facilities have been fined and 452 received official warnings for non-compliance with the smoking ban in light of the ongoing  coronavirus pandemic.

Anti-smoking liaison officers at the ministry detected these violations during routine daily inspections, which are clear violations of official health guidelines banning smoking and shisha in closed public places.

In a press statement, the ministry stressed inspections are ongoing among facilities and institutions across the Kingdom in order to ensure compliance with the Public Health Law No. 47 of 2008. This law requires people to not smoke in closed public places as well as adhere to public health and safety measures, including social distancing and wearing face masks.
