Thursday, the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) denounced the crime involving a man who beat daughter to death for low grades.
In a statement, the center explained that "this unfortunate incident strongly contradicts the principles of our religion and our noble value system," calling on all competent authorities to take the necessary measures to protect those who are most vulnerable to such human rights violations.
It also stressed the need to identify the reasons behind this "reprehensible and strange phenomenon," and work on preventing similar incidents from reoccurring in the future. It described the incident as a "grave offense to human dignity."
The center called for strengthening the government and civil society's efforts to raise awareness about human rights among local communities at the individual, family and institutional levels. It also called for including this topic in academic curricula and dialogue in all places of worship, based on a long-term strategic plan.
