Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas political bureau, in a visit to Morocco Thursday affirmed the Palestinian people’s appreciation of Morocco.

He added, "Morocco is geographically far away, but it is in the heart of the Arab and Islamic world and is in contact with Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa in the past, present and future," referring to the Mughrabi Gate and the Moroccan neighborhood in Occupied Jerusalem.

"We look at embracing the Moroccan people with all their political parties and components as a strategic depth for our people, our sanctification and our limits, " he said.

He added, "We will discuss in depth many cases of common interest related to the developments of the situation on the Palestinian arena and the region."

Wednesday, Ismail Haniyeh began his meetings in Morocco with Saad Eddin El Othmani, Moroccan Prime Minister and Chairman of the Justice and Development Party, and a number of party leaders. The two sides discussed many issues related to bilateral relations, the results of the Battle of Saif al-Quds and ways to support the Palestinian cause and people.

Haniyeh and the Hamas delegation arrived in Morocco on Wednesday afternoon as part of the active political and diplomatic movement that he is undertaking in the wake of the Battle of Seif al-Quds.
