Thursday, Ambassador Ahmed Al-Deek, an official in the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that talks are currently underway with Jordan to cancel the platform through which registration is conducted for those wishing to return from the West Bank to Jordan.

This came in order to reduce the high costs of return to Jordan.

Deek said in a statement to Roya that the Palestinian Foreign Ministry submitted an official request to Jordan through the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, which in turn promised to study the issue with the competent authorities to facilitate the return of travelers from occupied Palestine.

He added that registering on the platform which was imposed on travelers was not a Jordanian or Palestinian option, but it came due to the coronavirus pandemic to limit the movement between countries and visitors in order to control the spread of the virus.

The platform imposes travel costs on those who want to travel to Jordan or abroad, which is approximately 800 shekels (JD 173) per person.
