Palestinian children flew kites on a Gaza City beach this weekend carrying the portraits of the dozens of children killed by Israeli Occupation airstrikes in May.

The organizer of the event Najwa Al Farra told AFP, "This event aims to deliver a message to the Arab and Western world and to show them the number of children who were killed in cold blood during the brutal war, and for people to know that the children sympathize with the ones who were killed."

A Palestinian girl attending the event said "We came here to fly kites bearing the pictures of martyrs. We dream of flying in the sky without any restrictions or wars and to feel optimistic about this life."

Another girl said, “We came here to send kites and fly our dreams to the whole world without being stopped nor sieged or persecuted.”

May 20, the Israeli Occupation and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire following 11 days of violence that killed over 260 Palestinians.
