Monday, in what is being described as the latest 'Biden gaffe,' to hit mainstream media, the US President mistook Libya for Syria in his G7 speech.

When Biden began discussing Russia ahead of a summit with Putin, he claimed that the US "can work together with Russia - for example, in Libya."

Russia played no role in the 2011 NATO bombing campaign in Libya, which brought the downfall of the former leader Muammar Gaddafi.

However, Russia orchestrated airstrikes in Syria, of which Biden was aware.

Libya was brought up once again, after Biden said that Russia has some "serious problems they're going to have trouble chewing on - for example the rebuilding of Syria, of Libya."

On Twitter, members of the Republican party did not hesitate to share their piece of mind on the mix-up, claiming this is more evidence of Biden's cognitive decline and inability to serve as president.
