Wednesday, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health (MoH) for Primary Health Care Ghazi Sharkas said the Ministry is implementing a campaign to monitor smoking inside closed areas with a zero tolerance policy. He noted that smoking instructions also apply to electronic cigarettes.

The aim is to ensure compliance with health and safety measures issued in this regard.

He told Roya that the campaign began in hospitals and health centers affiliated with the MoH and will gradually expand to other places as closed sectors begin to reopen.

He pointed out that other instructions were issued regarding shisha, as cafes will start serving it again Tuesday, stressing that it can only be served outdoors.

He noted that the government will respond to non-compliance with penalties on an individual and facility level.
