The Director of the Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), Nizar Mhaidat, confirmed that the company that manufactured the Moderna coronavirus vaccine submitted a request to the JFDA to obtain an emergency use authorization (EUA).

In an interview with Hala Akhbar, Mhaidat said that a specialized committee in the JFDA is currently studying these documents, in order to authorize the Moderna vaccine for emergency use in Jordan.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus vaccination campaign in the Kingdom on Jan. 13, Jordan has approved five vaccines for emergency use including Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V and J&J.

Earlier Friday, the Minister of Health, Feras Hawari, told Roya that a total of 1.6 million people received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine in Jordan.
