Friday, six children were killed and at least 19 others were injured in a fire at a juvenile detention center in Cairo, Egypt.

The detention center houses about 200 children aged between 14 and 18.

The fire broke out late Thursday at the building in Al-Marg district on Cairo’s northeastern outskirts, a security official told AFP.

The head of the facility was immediately detained, the official said, without giving any further details.

The fire was brought under control by civil defense workers.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
