Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired was awarded the 'World No Tobacco Day' award for her continuous efforts against tobacco in the Kingdom and the rest of the world. This came as part of the WHO's annual tobacco control awards that are given to individuals and organizations in six different regions. The slogan for this year's awards was 'Commit to quit.'

HRH said “Our challenge is big and demands continuous efforts from all of us to protect our youth and our population from tobacco addiction. That is why I dedicate this award to all the anti-tobacco NGOs in Jordan, who work day in day out, on a voluntary basis, to fight misinformation, increase public awareness, and demand implementation of every single article in our health law vis-à-vis tobacco control.”

HRH added that “In that regard I am glad that Jordan has now upgraded its cessation clinics and is offering its services and medications for free. I sincerely hope that many smokers will utilise this service to help them quit and take control of health and well-being.”

HRH is a Global Ambassador for Tobacco Free Portfolios and joined Vital Strategies as a Special Envoy for non-communicable diseases in 2021

HRH started her journey advocating for tobacco control as Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF ) from 2002 until 2016.

Back in 2020, HRH became the representative for Jordanian anti-tobacco NGOs and a Member of the Jordan National Tobacco Control Committee to deal with tobacco addiction in the Kingdom.
