Friday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for adolescents between the ages 12 and 15.

This makes it the first coronavirus vaccine available for adolescents.

"As anticipated, the EMA's Committee for Human Medicines has today approved the use of the vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech in adolescents from 12 to 15 years," said Marco Cavaleri, the EMA's head of vaccine strategy.

May 11, the US Food and Drug Administration approved use of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 15 in the United States.
