The World Health Organization (WHO) has demanded to allow access to patients in the Gaza Strip and be able to evacuate them to receive treatment, in light of the pressures facing medical teams to tend to the sick and injured after the recent violence in Gaza which injured thousands and killed over 240 people.

RIA Novosti quoted a spokesperson for the WHO in Geneva, Fadila Al-Shayeb, as saying Friday that around 600 patients, some of them with chronic diseases, needed to be transferred outside the Gaza Strip since the start of the Israeli Occupation aggression on Gaza during May, but this was not possible due to the closure of the crossings.

In a previous statement, the WHO accused the Israeli Occupation of violating the health rights of the Palestinians, and called on preparing a report on the health conditions in "Palestine, East Jerusalem, and the Occupied Syrian Golan."
