Wednesday, the Israeli Occupation police said that an officer involved in shooting a Palestinian teen in her home last week was suspended pending investigations.

Jana Kiswani, 16, is currently recovering in her family home after being shot with a rubber bullet by the Israeli Occupation police in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Occupied East Jerusalem.

Kiswani was standing outside her home's front gate when a police officer ordered her, her brother, and father to go indoors, then shot her in the back.

Kiswani was transported to the hospital, where she was informed that she had a broken vertebra.

Security camera footage from May 18 showed Kiswani, her father, brother and a friend reentering the courtyard when she suddenly falls to the ground, after which a stun grenade explodes inside their courtyard.

Videos taken by a neighbor also showed police officers shooting towards the Kiswani home.

Her father Mohammad Kiswani said, “We are defenseless people and we had nothing in our hands.”

The Israeli Occupation police released a statement saying after receiving the footage Tuesday, the internal affairs department opened an investigation and the officer was taken off active duty.
