The Central Traffic Department (CTD) of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced Wednesday, details of the cause of the traffic accident which claimed the lives of five children and injured 14 others in the Nabe' al-Bahath area in Amman.

The representative of the Traffic Department said in press statements, that the cause of the accident was due to reckless driving while approaching turns.

He added that the use of vehicles for purposes other than those intended for them leads to high deaths and injuries in accidents, pointing out that the vehicle was a cargo pick up truck, and the injured and deceased were sitting in the back.

He pointed out that loading people in cargo vehicles "in the back box" is a clear violation of the Traffic Law and defense orders and exposes people to danger.
