Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi received a phone call from the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which they followed up on the talks they had recently held in Washington about the dangerous conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Safadi and Blinken reviewed the actions and efforts aimed at stopping the escalation, in which Safadi stressed the need to stop the aggression on Gaza and all illegal and provocative Israeli Occupation practices in the West Bank and in the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque.

Safadi also stressed the importance of the American role and the positions expressed by the US administration regarding the need to respect the historical situation in Jerusalem and its sanctities, to stop settlement and deportation, the two-state solution, and to affirm the Palestinians' right to live with the same level of security and safety experienced by the Israelis.

The two ministers agreed on the need to stop the escalation and achieve sustainable calm.

Safadi lastly stressed the need to move immediately to find a political horizon to the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with international law.
