About 2,500 people demonstrated in support of the Palestinians in a quiet march in central Madrid on Saturday in light of the continued aggression of the Israeli Occupation on the Gaza Strip.

The participants, among them a large number of young women, raised banners that read "Silence for others, suffering for others" and "Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Palestine."

"It is not war, it is extermination," they chanted on their way from Attocha Station to Piazza de Sole.

Many young men wrap themselves in Palestinian flags.

Amira Sheikh Ali, 37, the daughter of Palestinian refugees, said, "They are slaughtering us. We are in a situation where the catastrophe (of 1948) continues in the twenty-first century."

Ikhlas, 25, of Moroccan descent, said, "We want to ask Spain and the European authorities not to cooperate with Israel, and through its silence it contributes" to the ongoing violence in the Middle East.
