A military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army stated Friday that the news circulating on social media regarding the JAF shooting citizens who gathered near the border areas is incorrect.

The source stressed that the JAF did not and will not use weapons against their citizens, and that all measures taken were to protect citizens from adverse situations at an international border. 

The source revealed that the armed forces uses the utmost caution, and the only shots fired were those shot into the air. 

The source noted the need to fully adhere to the instructions issued by the armed forces and security agencies and not to approach the border sites to preserve their safety.

The source further called on citizens to verify sources before publishing or re-publishing anything on social media.
