Organizers of a Paris demonstration in support of the Palestinian people that was banned by the government Friday filed a lawsuit to challenge the decision, calling it unfair and unjust.

The Paris Administrative Court is scheduled to issue its decision on the appeal Saturday morning, according to a source close to the file.

"France is the only democratic country that prohibits such a demonstration!" Said lawyer Seven Guise.

Calling it an attack on freedom of expression, he also denounced the "political" nature of this decision, "which was taken at the request of Interior Minister Gerald Darmanan."

Paris Police Chief Didier Lallmann, who issued the ban Thursday, explained that there is a "real possibility" of "serious disturbances in public order" as well as "violations against the temples and interests of the Israeli Occupation," recalling, like Darmannan, a pro-Palestinian rally in Paris in 2014 that turned into clashes.

"Since 2014, I have organized a lot of demonstrations in defense of the Palestinian cause, which took place without any problem," Ghez said.

The Palestinian organization leading the protest condemned the ban. One of its leaders, Walid Atallah, denounced the decision, referring to it as "France's collusion with Israel."
