In light of the ongoing aggression and violence by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in recent days around the Gaza Strip, the army decided to call in 7,000 more reservists.

A reservist is a person who is a member of a military reserve force. They are otherwise civilians, and in peacetime have careers outside the military.

Reservists usually go for training on an annual basis to refresh their skills

The new procedure also includes canceling permits for soldiers and officers in combat units until further notice.

This comes against the backdrop of expectations that the IOF leadership Thursday, will adopt plans to launch a possible ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
