As Israeli Occupation airstrikes continue on the Gaza Strip, US President Joe Biden said to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that the Israeli Occupation "has a right to defend itself" against Palestinian resistance rockets.

Biden said his “hope is that we’ll see this coming to a conclusion sooner than later”, however.

According to Gaza's health authorities, 65 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli Occupation strikes since Monday, after Hamas fired airstrikes towards Tel Aviv in retaliation to the continuous Israeli Occupation violence in Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Jarrah and Gaza.

The US, a major supporter of the Israel Occupation, provides them with $3.8 billion in military aid on an annual basis.

In turn, activists demanded the US to put "brakes on the Israeli [Occupiers]" as violence rises.

An analyst for Policy Studies, Phyllis Bennis, said “as long as the US is not prepared to hold [the Israeli Occupation] to account”, any statements made by Biden or his administration about the issue will not lead to "de-escalation."

“We keep hearing from President Biden that he wants a foreign policy that’s based on human rights," said Bennis, indicating there is no actual commitment to human rights.

"And certainly in this case, there’s no willingness to use political capital,” said Bennis.

Notably, earlier Wednesday Biden conveyed his unwavering support for the Israeli Occupation and their "legitimate right to defend itself and its people, while protecting civilians."
