The government's recent decision to reduce the overnight curfew hours contributed to reviving the tourism sector, according to those working in the industry.

Sources from the tourism sector in Aqaba said reservations in hotels by the beach reported a 50 percent increase in reservations Tuesday.

Hotel Manager Hossam Hijazin told Roya he hopes and expects the occupancy rate of hotels in Aqaba to exceed 90 percent during Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

Hijazin also said people from other cities will be encouraged to travel to Aqaba after Eid, since they have "more time to enjoy daytime and nighttime activities."

Aqaba is preparing to welcome local visitors including the strict measures issued by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Ministry of Tourism regarding health protocols that guarantee people's safety.

The nighttime curfew is set to change Thursday to be 10pm for establishments and 11pm for citizens.
