The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said that the Israeli Occupation is playing with fire and “its practices are pushing the region into more conflict."

He added that such practises threaten the region's security and stability.

In the Arab League’s emergency meeting, Safadi said, “The Israeli Occupation authorities will not enjoy security if the Palestinians do not enjoy it.”

Safadi affirmed that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan stands with Palestinians in facing aggression and defending Islamic and Christian holy sites.

He stressed that Palestinian citizens of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Occupied Jerusalem have a clear right to live in their homes, and evicting Palestinians from their homes constitutes a war crime that the international community should not allow.

He pointed out that in accordance with international law, the Israeli Occupation is obligated to protect these property rights, in its capacity as the occupying power.

He stated that the Kingdom has held talks with a number of capitals to demand an effective international stance that prevents the Israeli Occupation from committing this clear violation of international law.

Safadi said “We support every effort made by the State of Palestine at all political and legal levels to protect the rights of its citizens in their homes in its Occupied capital.”

Safadi warned of the catastrophic consequences of the attacks on the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, indicating that this is a place of worship for Muslims. He stressed that the Department of Endowments of Jerusalem and the affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is the only authority allowed to manage its affairs.

He affirmed that the Kingdom will continue to make every possible effort to protect the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of holy sites and preserve the historical and legal status existing in them.

He stressed that Jordan will take, as it has always done, all necessary steps to support and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

He stressed that the Israeli Occupation must immediately stop its illegal practices and violations in the West Bank and its inhuman aggression against the Gaza Strip.
