Wednesday, India recorded 412,000 new coronavirus cases, setting a new record for the most amount of cases ever recorded in a single country in 24 hours. 

In the same period, the country recorded nearly 4,000 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths recorded in India to 230,168. 

Since the beginning of the pandemic, India has recorded over 20 million cases and is currently suffering from a severe oxygen shortage as its health system continues to weaken.
