Monday, the Minister of Health Feras al-Hawari said that a suspected Indian COVID-19 case was detected in Aqaba.

Hawari told Al-Haqiqa TV, that further testing will be conducted to reveal if it is the Indian mutation, which will be announced once known.

He predicted the Indian strain will appear in all countries, stressing that the government will not be able to prevent the strain from entering the Kingdom due to the inability to conduct genetic sequencing tests at airports.

Saturday, three cases of the Indian COVID-19 strain were detected, involving two in Amman and one in Zarqa.

Jordan recorded 28 deaths and 1,272 new coronavirus cases Monday.
