Chest and respiratory diseases and critical care consultant, Muhammad Hassan Al-Tarawneh, said Sunday that the Indian mutant is in the 'community spread' stage in Jordan.

The statement comes contrary to what the Minister of Health, Firas Al-Hawari, said yesterday regarding the strain.

In a press statement, Tarawneh said that those who tested positive for the mutant must have been in contact with cases that arrived from India, stressing that it means there is now a community spread of the mutant.

Saturday, the Minister of Health announced the discovery of three recorded cases of the Indian mutant in Jordan. He said those infected have not traveled abroad recently.

Two of the Indian mutant cases were recorded in Amman, and another was recorded in Zarqa.
